What I like the most about this lifegain deck is how rarely it cares about gaining life

It meant we had space to make new cards, but we also needed to have a way for the deck to "fuel" itself with energy counters without relying on reprints

Still, there are some really interesting soldier decks and soldier commanders in MTG, some of which play into that vibe, and some of which just turn things sideways a lot

I want some sealed to sock away for a while, but I also want the singles when they are cheap, so I want to spend the money a little more targeted, rather than just blast away at everything

Theres also an unlimited firebreathing on this card, so in later turns, it can bash for 2-3
